Smackin' Acetate Technique

Good afternoon peeps!

Well I won't be going to the cape after all, the weather is too cloudy & we're afraid we will get caught in the rain later so hopefully we will go next week if the weather co-operates...sheesh!!! Oh well such is life, hah?

I started this card last weekend & then I saw Gina K's StampTV video on this kool technique called "Smackin' Acetate" & decided to give it a try on this card. It took a few tries to get it the way I was at least happy with it, it's not perfect but it looks good (you should see the ones I threw out) & I'm happy with it. I will use this technique again sometime...it was fun! If you want to give it a try click here for Gina's video & be prepared to have some fun!

I think I'm going to break down & get me some copics for skin tones, after I uploaded this picture to my blog her face looks so pale & needs more defined color. What colors should I buy for skin tones & cheeks? Let me know what you think, I really would like your feed back on what to do about the faces.

My Card for Jen's Challenge # 2

Hi everyone,

Hope your all having a great day. This is my card for Jen's Challenge # 2. This was fun, I luv this sketch & how the card turned out. I wanted to use one of my Sarah Kay stamps but it didn't work out for this, so I'll make a card tomorrow with one of the stamps. I stamped a bunch of them last night so all I need to do now is color them in & their ready to put on a card.

I'm in the process of revamping my blog design with a little help from my friends. Today I took the plunge & changed my template. Let me tell you I was scared to death that I was going to screw something up & lose the whole thing, but so far so good, it just needs a little adjustment. Will have lots of thank yous for all the help after I'm done. That's all for today folks! Thanks for stopping by & have a great day!

Wedding Card

Good morning,

Quick post today. I made this card last night for Deb's white on white BLOG APPRECIATION CHALLENGE & what fun it was to figure out what I was going to do. I had something in mind at first but it wasn't working out. Don't you just hate that when it happens? So back to the drawing board & I remembered seeing some embossed hearts on a card awhile back (sorry I don't remember where) so I went to work & this is the end result! I love the way it turned out & will add a sentiment inside later, the wedding cake brad I think I got that at Target or Michael's I can't remember because it was so long ago. I had Jessica's wedding in mind when I bought these. I had so much fun making this Deb, thanks for this cool challenge. I will do more challenges once the wedding is over, but this gave me a chance to experiment with wedding cards & decide on what I might make for Jessica & Steve. When I took the stitches off her baby bonnet I was left with the ribbon & 2 tiny flower appliques that I want to incorporate into her wedding card, so this gave me a heads up.

Thanks for visiting & have a great weekend everyone!

Allison's B & W Challenge for Christmas

This card I just made for Allison's B & W Card challenge. I made this star Saturday while the SU Demo Beth was at the crop fest so I could use her punches & buy the white shimmer CS to make this beauty & when I got home I saw that Allison had a black & white challenge & thought hmmmm, I could use my star on this card & work around it to create a card. I'm very happy at the way this card turned out, I don't think I'll part with this beauty! I'm keeping it for myself. Don't you do that too sometimes? Well have a nice evening & thanks for stopping by.

Hugs...Rita

One Card, Two Ways Challenge

Good evening all!

Hope you all had a great day! It was misty & rainy here all day today, but we needed the rain. Hope the sun comes back tomorrow, I'm getting sick of the rain this week. Here is another card that I made this weekend, I cased this card from somewhere while I was blog surfing last week & don't know who I got it from, so if it looks familiar to someone please let me know who's blog or gallery I got it from so that I can acknowledge you with a link on my blog. I really liked this card. It can be viewed 2 ways so I thought why not enter it in Stampingranny's Challenge called "One Card, Two Ways" kill two birds with one stone...no, no, no not really kill a bird...heehee!!! Just a saying, my mom used to say that all the time, used to make me laugh! Well have a great evening ladies & I will talk to you tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by & checking out my blog.

Hugs...Rita

Jen's Challenge # 9

Here is my card for Jen's Challenge # 9 I made my diagonal cut with a wave using the decorative trimmer from Creative Memories, I don't think you can see it in the picture 'cause the flower is hiding it.
Stamps: SU Doodle This & Michael's stamps
Paper: SU Whisper white & CM key lime CS & DS paper
Ink: Old olive, pink passion, basic black (using aqua pen)& Le Plume II water based markers
Accessories: Black brad & A.C. Moore ribbon
I had so much fun with this challenge!! I cut out the flower from doodle this twice using 1 kind of paper & cut out another 1 using a different paper & sandwiched them together to give flower a fuller look.

I stamped the images for the background & water colored the images with a press of the ink pad to puddle color on cover for ink & used the aqua pen & Le Plume markers to fill in images.

My first card for a challenge

Good morning all!

Well, I finally did it!!! I submitted my very first card (see below) to Jen's challenge # 8. It's cute I think for my first card without all the tools at hand. I know I will do better once I get all my stuff from SU next week. I can't wait to start creating & see my progress as time goes on, everyone gets more creative with experience. Well I'm off for my semi annual doctor's visit, (I hate going) & to do some errands. So you all have a great day! Thanks for stopping by & please sign my guest book.

Hugs...Rita
